What is a Live Transfer or Press 1 Campaign?

One thing to remember when doing a voice broadcast is that an outbound call will result in 1 of 3 scenarios.

  1. Answered by a person
  2. Answered by an answering machine or voicemail system
  3. Answered by noone

Live transfers or Press 1s is a voice broadcast campaign type that allows people who are called and answer the phone to press a dtmf digit on their phone to be instantly transferred to another phone number.

Below is an example live answer recording phone script a Retail service company may use.

Hello, this a short message from XYZ HVAC. We are calling to let you it’s time for your annual maintenance for your air conditioning unit. Please zero to connect to our office and schedule your appointment now. Also, if you would like to be removed from this calling list, press 3 now. Thank you!

This is a popular option that many companies use to make it easy to initiate conversations.

One concern is that the person(s) answering the inbound live transfers could be overwhelmed with too many responses in a short period of time.

Once a live transfer call completes, the dialing will continue.

Also, note that if the person called presses 3, that phone number will be automatically added to your Do Not Call list.
