Voice Broadcasting Just Got A Whole Lot Easier!

Billing Increments
Not all per minute rates are equal.

For example, let's say "Company A" charges $0.035 per minute and "Company B" charges $0.12 per minute.

Which company is cheaper?

To answer this question, you need more information.

You must know the billing increments each company uses.

"Company A" charges $0.035 per minute in 60 second billing increments.

With a 60 second billing increment, any call less than 60 seconds is rounded up to 60 seconds or 1 full minute of usage. A 5 second call and a 50 second call are both billed as 1 minute or $0.035.

"Company B" charges $0.12 per minute in 6 second billing increments. A 5 second call is billed as 6 seconds or 1/10 of 1 minute or $0.012. A 50 second call is billed as 54 seconds or 9/10 of 1 minute or $0.108.

Let's now look at an actual report from a "Live Answer Only Press 1 Transfer" campaign. The live answer message is 17 seconds.

4,173

"Company A" charges a total amount of $510.96.

To calculate, add the live answers and the answering machines and multiply by the per minute rate. (Remember any call less than 60 seconds is charged 1 minute of usage.)

6,921 +7,678 = 14,599 X $0.035 = $510.96.

Important: Even though this was an "Live Answer Only Press 1 Transfer" campaign, "Company A" charges 1 full minute of usage for every connected call to a live answer as well as to every answering machine. So even though each connected answering machine is an instant hang up, the customer is still billed 1 full minute of usage.

"Company B" charges a total amount of $500.76.

To calculate, just multiply the total minutes used by the per minute rate.

4,173 X $0.12 = $500.76.

The difference in total cost between "Company A" and "Company B" is a simple math equation:

$510.96 - $500.76 = $10.20.

So "Company B" is actually cheaper by $10.20 even though the per minute rate is $0.12 per minute.

Sigma Voice charges a per minute rate in 6 second billing increments.
